Willis Auto Campus

As you may already be aware, the new tax bill approved by Congress last week allows business owners to immediately depreciate 100 percent of new qualifying sport utility vehicles purchased between September 2010 and the end of 2011. Qualifying SUV's are those with a GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) of 6,000 pounds or more and used solely for business purposes.

Businesses planning to purchase a new SUV in the near future may consider accelerating their buying plans if doing so is appropriate for your business. Please consult your tax advisor on how this can be applied to your individual business situation. 

Here at the Willis Auto Campus we offer 12 different SUV models from among our Cadillac , Lexus,  Land Rover,  Volvo , and Infiniti  brands.  Our sales associates are available to answer any questions you may have.  If you decide to accelerate your vehicle purchase before the end of 2011, we will be open Wednesday and Thursday evenings until 8:00 p.m., and until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 31.

Through the years, the Willis Auto Campus has partnered with the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines to help bring Iowans the best and brightest shows from the Great White Way. This year we are thrilled to announce our most magical lineup yet! The 2010-2011 season is full of Broadway hits that are sure to delight and excite the whole family. When the curtain goes up in October, enjoy the toe-tapping tunes of the hit comedy 9 to 5: The Musical. Mary Poppins flies onto the Civic Center stage just in time for the holiday season followed by the acclaimed Next to Normal and Rock of Ages. Mel Brooks' sidesplitting Young Frankenstein rounds out the season along with the optional add-on show Chicago. All of us at the Willis Auto Campus are looking forward to this "Perfectly Magical Season."

2010-2011 Willis Broadway Series

The holiday season is a joyous and special time of year. In addition to gifts for family and friends, you may also be thinking of how you can give back to our community. We'd like to take a moment and tell you a bit about the Willis Lexus Drive for Kids.

This year marks the 5th season that we have sponsored the Civic Center's Willis Broadway Series. As our relationship with the Civic Center has grown, we have been struck by the impact of their educational programs and what they are bringing to local young people. To help donations go even further, we created the Willis Lexus Drive for Kids. Over the last two years, this program has helped bring 40,000 students to the Civic Center. This year we will again be matching donations up to $15,000. We want to do even more and we are asking you to join us.

In 1947 Charles H. Betts, Sr. purchased the Cadillac franchise in Des Moines from the Hardy family. In 1958 his son, Charles H. (Chuck) Betts, Jr. came to work at the dealership, later becoming the dealer principal. While attending Simpson College in 1972, I began working at Betts Cadillac.

I learned having good people who care about putting the needs of the customer first from my father, a Chevrolet dealer in Delaware, and Chuck Betts. In 1988 I began a process to purchase the dealership. That process was completed in 2000. Chuck and I have always discussed that the time would come when we would transition the name of the dealership from his family to mine. As I begin my 36th year at the dealership with my sons, Jason and Matt, who are in the business now, the time for transition has come

Our 60th Anniversary last year was a celebration of the traditions the Betts family established. Those traditions will now continue as the Willis Auto Campus.
